How can I avoid getting blisters while playing basketball?

I recently started playing basketball at our indoor gym during my lunch break. Since I started, several blisters have started to form on my feet. I had not problem with blisters when I was running 3-5 miles a day. I am wearing my somi-worn running shoes and some standard semi-worn but hole-free socks to play. Do I need to wear basketball shoes to avoid blisters or buy some new socks or do both or something else? Thanks for any advice.|||wear thicker socks and sneakers with more cushion, make sure your shoes arent too big also|||nba socks or jordan socks are really comfortable and soft while giving extra support around the back of your foot and ankle|||when your playing tell your feet not to get blisters or else they will be so affraid that they will not come up
