I used to really hate basketball and never played it, but now all of a sudden i like to play it alot, but i can only make layups..
ive been practicing so hard but no matter what i do i can only make like 1 in 7 shots, for 2 pointers and 1 in 10 for 3 pointers..
im not seeing any improvement from all this practicing any tips?|||Make sure when you shoot your jumpers that your form is correct. Also, your release and follow through need to be consistent every time out. Focus on those aspects and don't worry about making a single shot.
First focus, square up your shoulders so you are facing the rim. Then make sure your feet are set before you jump. Release your jumper on the apex of your jump (highest point) and keep your elbows bent 90 degrees. The ball should be above your head where you still have a good view of the rim and make sure you keep your eyes on the target. When you shoot the ball, spread your fingers and shoot the ball by releasing the shot in a crane like motion to put good rotation on the ball. Keep your hand in that position til the ball is out of your hands as a proper follow through. Good rotation is key to a good shot as well as good arc (don't want your shot to be too flat otherwise it will limit your percentages). The higher the arc (not too high) and good rotation increase the chances of getting the shooter's touch (bounces) around the rim. Jump straight up and down, and try not to lean sideaways or forward/backward.
Keep practicing til you get the form and procedure right, the shots will eventually begin to fall. Remember, NBA players shoot thousands of jumpshots a day for practice. So be patient and you will be rewarded.|||to make easy baskets try to bank in ur shots and during ur jump on the shot, aim it really well on the backboard and you arm just guides you to shoot how hard you want it to shooot.|||jermaine o'neal learned to play basketball when he was in high school then he got drafted just after finishing high school...now he's an all-star...i guess what he did was just practiced and play everyday to improve...if he could improve in such a short period of time, why can't you??? nothing is impossible...|||It seems you're having problems with your jumpshot. You can't get a great form by reading it off of the internet, join a league or basketball camp, or maybe ask some friends who play and get some hands on experience.
Most importantly keep praticing! I used to SUCK at shooting, all of my makes would be luck, but now I shoot really well so anyone can do it... oh and by the way play against other people and challenge yourself.|||play non-stop!|||go to a basketball camp or join a league to get better thats how u really do it.. or just play pick up games.. u get to see other people play also..|||Practice makes perfect...maybe not in your case though. I think the reason that you're not making much improvement is because you didn't really watch and then learn. You should really watch the pros on T.V. and see what they're doing. You could even watch the college game on tonight. Good luck!!
