What kind of classes should a basketball beginner take?

I am having trouble finding camps in basketball as I am already 16 ( junior) and I am a beginner. Also any tips for making the team? I am willing to work super hard to make the team. Also what other classes/ camps should I attend other than basketball to improve . Would a strength/ conditioning camp help?|||Because of your age, I would try to buy a few training videos and workout on your own in your garage or driveway. You can just follow along with the video like it is a camp. There's several basketball videos to choose from. Go on amazon.com and check them out. Better basketball and the old school Peter Maravich videos are good. The video you choose will also depend on your position. It will be hard for you to find a camp being a beginner and as old as you are.

If you want to make you High School team, then I would suggest working your butt off on defense. Be the first one on the floor to get a loose ball, don't be afraid to get rough for a rebound. Also, try really hard to limit your turnovers. If your offensive skills are weak, you want to show you won't be a liability on the team and turn the ball over. Also, talk to the head coach before try outs. Tell him or her you really interested in playing on the basketball team this year and what can you do to get a better chance of making the team.

For strength and conditioning, again ask the head coach or look for a Speed, Strength, and Conditioning coach at your local YMCA or gym.
