How have basketball rules changed since the Michael Jordon era?

Having lived in Chicago through the 90's and having attended many of those great games, I believe that nobody has surpassed Jordon. Whenever someone throws some stats out there that attempt to contradict that, it is mentioned that the rules of basketball have changed; and if Jordon was still playing today, he'd crush those stats. What's the story behind this? How have the rules changed?|||Well first of all, there still has yet to be another Jordan.

2 things that changed is you are now allowed to play zone defense, you couldn't do that before.

Another is the refs call EVERYTHING. You can not even near play as physical as the 90's Bulls or the 89' Pistons.

Jordan would either be scoring 80 points a game because of how much he would get to the free throw line, or he would foul out in the first 2 quarters.|||it was better back then, when people used to foul hard, it was ok and wasn't even a flagrant foul. Nowadays if you foul someone a little hard they call a flagrant. Jordan would be living at the free throw line these days.|||Travelling, and jordan era they didnt have 3 in the key|||They still don't call travelling !!!!

How do I keep the basketball pole still while the cement is drying?

Im planning to dig a hole and put our portable basketball into the ground and cement it. How do i keep the basketball pole from moving while the cement is drying? Thanks.|||Rig angle supports from four sides attached to each other at the pole and secured by stakes at the ground. Self taping screws would also help you secure the angle braces to the pole. Place the pole by itself and then attach the backboard and rim after so that the weight of the goal doesn't affect setting the pole.|||I would recommend having someone do it for you.

Will basketball players ever get to play basketball on the moon in a special basketball arena?

Does NASA ever plan to play basketball in space for fun making it more desirable for humans to gain curiosity to travel to?

Will NASA ever have the ability to build such large buildings on the moon for recreation and for a community?|||basket ball in 0.g that would be sooooo cool|||they will never think of it and won't want to|||no way..too much tv

What basketball shoes do you recommend for wide feet?

I'm a size 2E in New Balance running shoes. What basketball shoes do you guys recommend? Does wearing a size up and extra socks help when using narrow basketball shoes? What basketball shoes models do you personally recommend?|||NB is the most comfortable shoe I've worn outside athletic competition.

See if you can get them in a high-top, otherwise Adidas is pretty good.|||Try Adidas. They are very comfortable and very fitting. I have the Dwight Howards

How can I develop good basketball skills?

I am planning on joining my school's basketball team this fall; I've always been told that I have pretty good skills, but I know that I'm not good enough to play on the team because they are all very competitive and experienced. So what can I do to improve my basketball skills? Thank you!|||Practice a lot and keep trying to improve. You have to work hard. With time, you'll make a lot of progress. Try doing drills.

Watch a lot of NBA basketball because you'll definitely get more knowledge about the game and a higher basketball IQ and everything. Observe the players closely and try to do what they do. You'll also learn a lot of new moves from watching. Watching NBA basketball also helps you have better court instincts so you can think more quickly.|||i'm in the exact same situation as you!

what you do is play basketball every day, and what you do every time is:

- run while dribbling for about 4 laps non-stop

- shoot from different angles

- practice the lay up from both the right and left side

- try get a partner and practice defending

and you're good to go!

good luck!|||well i am also a girl trying to go on the high school basketball team and I did have previous experience(but it wasnt necessarily good) anyways if you have a hoop and a basketball then u should know what to do!! SHOOT!! DRIBBLE!! and SHOOT AGAIN!! invite some friends and play against them. Work on ur shot, and most importantly u have to be able to run. So run a mile or two a day to get in shape(unless u already are in shape). Also ive been practicing an hour a day just shooting in my driveway and i feel like ive gotten soo much better..and its increasing my confidence as a bball player.

So basically i'm telling you to PRACTICE.

Because practice makes PERFECT.|||practice, practice, practice..thats all i can say!

we're talking about practice, man. I mean, how silly is that? We're talking about practice. I know I'm supposed to be there. I know I'm supposed to lead by example . . . I know it's important . . . I honestly do. But we're talking about practice, man. What are we talking about? Practice?"|||If you are white learn to shoot.

If you are black this is a trick question.|||it depends on what position you wanna play.

What is the difference between basketball shoes and normal shoes?

I am about to join my school's basketball team and I am not sure whether to buy new basketball shoes or just wear normal shoes so I need to know the difference. Care to help me out? Pleasee?|||Sometimes, basketball shoes are modified to weigh less, grip better, and feel comfortable.

Normal shoes will not do you any good.

The weight and grip is no good.

You WON'T be playing your best without exceptional gear.|||basketball shoes protect your ankles better and are designed for the sport bbut other shoes are usually cheaper

|||what do you consider normal shoes?

basketball shoes are made for basketball, lol.

the running, dribbling, jumps, etc.|||You can wear normal athletic shoes but it would be better to get basketball shoes, they have higher tops and you would be less likely to be injured because they will support your ankles.|||basketball shoes go through a shamanistic ceremony before they are shipped out to the stores. during said ceremony witchdoctors trip peyote and pray for the wearer of the shoe to "flima lika meeka", or fly like mike.

this has been going on for many years and is taken quite serious in some circles.

be careful with these magic shoes.|||the grip, arch support, ankle support

the comfort|||you definitely need basketball shoes. it keeps you from turning an ankle they are comfortable, and it gets way better traction|||You need basketball shoes, because they are made to help with jumping, shooting, etc. and i'm sure the coach would appreciate it.|||well you can just grab some of your regular athletic shoes with some good grips for first and then if you make the team and its like mine then you guys will need to pay a lil and then u all get team shoes

How to train for basketball at home with no basketball equipment?

I do not have a goal or any outside space and I have to get ready for basketball season. So how can I practice to get good.|||Awww, that's kinda sad...but anyway....you could do what I used to do which is take a small hand ball or "pinky ball" as we called them - because they were pinkish in color - and lay on your bed and just bounce that ball off the wall directly across from you and try and catch it every time.

This will help greatly with your hand and eye coordination which will aid in passing and catching the ball and will also sharpen your reflexes.

Toss that ball against the wall faster and faster or harder and harder the better you get at it, it'll keep you interested and help you further with your reflexes.

Basketball involves A LOT of running so any cardio you could do - like quick relays or sprints up and down your block or even your driveway - will help your lungs expand and your heart get used to the increased blood flow to it so your stamina will increase too. This will help you stay in the game a lot longer without becoming winded.

Obviously, you could also take that small ball and practice your aim with it..toss it in the garbage from very far distances...that'll help a bit.

And of course, if you could even just go buy a basketball without a hoop or court, you'll be so much farther along during a real game if you could just spend hours at home bouncing it and practicing passing it between your legs and also running with it outside while dribbling.

Really, you should just go ask your parents to buy you a ball. They're not that expensive and they'll last for pretty much ever.|||YMCA or a facility with a basketball court. You can't do it in the house.|||go to the ymca
