How can I develop good basketball skills?

I am planning on joining my school's basketball team this fall; I've always been told that I have pretty good skills, but I know that I'm not good enough to play on the team because they are all very competitive and experienced. So what can I do to improve my basketball skills? Thank you!|||Practice a lot and keep trying to improve. You have to work hard. With time, you'll make a lot of progress. Try doing drills.

Watch a lot of NBA basketball because you'll definitely get more knowledge about the game and a higher basketball IQ and everything. Observe the players closely and try to do what they do. You'll also learn a lot of new moves from watching. Watching NBA basketball also helps you have better court instincts so you can think more quickly.|||i'm in the exact same situation as you!

what you do is play basketball every day, and what you do every time is:

- run while dribbling for about 4 laps non-stop

- shoot from different angles

- practice the lay up from both the right and left side

- try get a partner and practice defending

and you're good to go!

good luck!|||well i am also a girl trying to go on the high school basketball team and I did have previous experience(but it wasnt necessarily good) anyways if you have a hoop and a basketball then u should know what to do!! SHOOT!! DRIBBLE!! and SHOOT AGAIN!! invite some friends and play against them. Work on ur shot, and most importantly u have to be able to run. So run a mile or two a day to get in shape(unless u already are in shape). Also ive been practicing an hour a day just shooting in my driveway and i feel like ive gotten soo much better..and its increasing my confidence as a bball player.

So basically i'm telling you to PRACTICE.

Because practice makes PERFECT.|||practice, practice, practice..thats all i can say!

we're talking about practice, man. I mean, how silly is that? We're talking about practice. I know I'm supposed to be there. I know I'm supposed to lead by example . . . I know it's important . . . I honestly do. But we're talking about practice, man. What are we talking about? Practice?"|||If you are white learn to shoot.

If you are black this is a trick question.|||it depends on what position you wanna play.
