I've spent about 15-30 minutes on the elliptical machine I have at my house, I've been eating better, and I've been playing basketball outside for a few hours with a couple friends. I'm 14. Do you think this is enough to condition myself?|||Hi! Here are a couple of trainings you can do to condition for your basketball camp:
- Try to do the most push-ups and set-ups you can (AM-PM)
- Run about 2-3 km/day
- Do some Plyometrics so you can jump higher
- Eat healthy food ( Fruits, Vegetables, Salads ...)
- Play Basketball ( Shoots, Rebounds, Jumps, Technique) If you are with friends, you can also practice your passing
- Scuicides
- You can also look for drills on the internet. That way, you can practice them to master them at your camp.
- Dribble a ball :)
There's surely a lot more but this is what I do everyday to be ready for my camp too. Hope this helps
Oh, and by the way, to answer your question, I don't think what you're doing is enough but it's better than nothing ;)|||No that's not enough at all. On the elliptical, common now... In bball tryouts they make you run full court 10 times at once as fast as you can. And its tryouts so you gotta do your best, there is no jogging. You need to do more than what is expected. If you Really want to condition yourself, run as hard as you can for as long as you can every day.|||No. Do suicides if you can. If not run like 2 miles a day. Eat healthy food. Play basketball.

How do you become a college basketball coach?
I am on the varsity basketball in my pretty large town, but am not good enough to play college. How can i become a coach?|||First off they require a College degree. Secondly while you are going to college try to get on the coaching staff as a volunteer or graduate assistant position. This will get you started on the right road. Similar to the way Lawerance Frank got to be an NBA coach for the NJ Nets.
Raised in Teaneck, New Jersey, Frank graduated from Teaneck High School, but never made the school's basketball team. Frank spent three seasons as an assistant coach for the Vancouver Grizzlies under Brian Hill. Hill would later serve as Frank's assistant with the New Jersey Nets. His responsibilities with the Grizzlies included scouting upcoming opponents as well as practice and bench coaching duties.
Before joining the Grizzlies, Frank served as an assistant coach at the University of Tennessee for three seasons under Head Coach Kevin O'Neill. Frank first worked with O'Neill as a volunteer staff assistant at Marquette University in 1992 and during his tenure, helped lead the Marquette Warriors to two NCAA tournament berths and a Sweet Sixteen appearance in 1994.
Frank earned his B.S. in education from Indiana University in 1992, where he spent four seasons as a manager for the Hoosier basketball team led by Bob Knight. He also holds an M.S. in education administration from Marquette.|||You have to know the plays of basketball, strategies, and how baketball is played. Here.
http://ezinearticles.com/?A-Proven-Syste鈥?/a>|||I would suggest that you read the biographies of famous basketball coaches and see what they have gone through on their way up. There are coaches who were not outstanding players, but I doubt that there are any who did not at least finish college.

How many people can play basketball really well that wished they had played college basketball?
I'm 30 years old, and well, I never developed a jump shot until after High School. Later, I became really good. I joined the Army for 8 years, and then got out I'm now 30 years old. I can still play basketball exceptionally well. Sad truth is, no one is going to take a 30 year old college basketball player, or NBA rookie for that matter. I play for sport and fun now. However, anyone like me, and wish they had really went out for the NBA in hard work and pursuit?|||"Young veteran, I just plan to enroll into a major conference,

What's the difference between casual and athletic basketball shoes?
What is the difference? I bought a pair of Nike Air Prestige basketball shoes because they fit well and they were $65. I played basketball with the shoes today and they are great.|||I think casual shoe are more fashion like and athletic shoes are made the feel comfortable and durable for sport and thing of that sort.|||casual is the kind of shoe you wear to go somewhere.......and athletic is the one u should play basketball with. u shouldnt wear the casual shoe playing basketball cuz it wont give u the support u need in basketball and u might end up spraining ur ankle or something
|||The difference is how they're really designed and what they were intended to do.
A pair of proper athletic basketball shoes are designed to support you through the motions you'll typically go through while playing a game of basketball. This could be like more support to the arches or ankles, more cushioning to prevent impact to your joints and having a shoe sole that's designed to help you jump, land and change directions quickly and safely.
Typically, casual shoes are designed with style in mind and aren't designed necessarily to play in. Their soles, for instance, may not be designed to stablize your feet during landing from a jump and not provide extra support to your arches. They're also no designed to be as light, cushioned or supportive (in some part to lower the cost of producing the shoe).
While you can play basketball in pretty much any pair of comfortable shoes, a pair of proper basketball shoes will also help maximize your performance while lowering the likelihood of injury.

How do my chances look for my high school basketball team?
I am a freshman(boy) at a decent basketball school. I am planning on trying out for my freshman basketball team. Im in high school btw. I am a little overweight without much stamina but I believe to myself that I am a good player. I am pretty good on defense, and mid ranged shooting. I have made a list and there are about 8-10 people that I think will make it over me. Any tips would be greatly appreciated to make the team an actually play.|||Are you black? Your chance depends on the number of black people trying out. And if your black your chances increase.

How do you tell a basketball shoe will have decent grip?
I bought a new pair of basketball shoes from nike ( Nike Shox Spotlight) and the grip looked really nice and good but when i took it to my school gym it was not really good and i was sliding a bit.
So my question is how am i suppose to test out the basketball shoe's grip when Nike stores or Footlocker dont have basketball court floors?|||Its with everyshoe really
Try online shopping i buy all from eastbay.com
Spit on the floor and whipe your shoe off
id say thats the best solution|||go to footlocker or champs. they usually have non carpeted areas so that you can check at the store.

How long does it take for basketball shoes to lose their elasticity?
I've heard about two years after they're manufactured, basketball shoes lose their elasticity and actually end up hurting your feet rather than helping. Is this true, and if not two years, how long?|||How often you wear them and how much you weigh and how hard you play are all factors (as well as growth) in how long your shoes last . i never had any last past 8 mens league games so it depends on the factors|||Im reall yinto basketball i've been playing for 8 years and i have never heard of that. i have never worn bball shoes that long cuz i grow out of them. I would think it depends on how often you wear them and where, like outside or inside. prob also depends on how hard u play
